Bodywork for ALL bodies; help us raise up CLINIC’s accessibility ramp!

By Will Stamell, Integrative Acupressurist

Even before I began my Integrative Acupressure practice I knew there was a problem. As an occupational therapist working with children and older adults in greater Northampton I frequently come across clients and caregivers who would ask me where a loved one could receive bodywork locally. The more the situation came up the more disheartened I became. I had to answer honestly, “I really don’t know of bodyworkers in the Valley who have a fully accessible location”.

When I began communicating with Jen Nery about joining the team of practitioners at CLINIC Alternative Medicines, I realized this was it; a fantastic opportunity to bring the healing potential of acupressure to not just the most able-bodied, but to those who are unable to walk into any office of their choosing. Every person, regardless of use of a wheelchair or the ability to climb stairs deserves the opportunity to receive the hands-on support they need.

And now we’re so close. The bathrooms are renovated, the doorways are widened, the treatment rooms are accommodating and beautiful. A couple handful more contributions from people who value this project and CLINIC will be a fully-inclusive center for healing. Thanks to everyone for their dedication to the completion of this project. The next time I’m asked where a loved one with a mobility issue can receive bodywork in Northampton I’m confident I’ll have the answer they’ve waited patiently to hear.

And please, spread the word, every body is welcome at CLINIC.
